Making the Connection Mentoring Program
2016-2017
Get to Know Us - Mentoring Program
The Mountain View Mentoring program was initiated
in 2007 in an effort to connect at-risk students to their education environment,
with the ultimate goal of increasing graduation rates and educational success.
The program was additionally designed to strengthen the relationship between the
school and our surrounding community.
Mountain View Mentors are volunteers from our community who meet at scheduled
intervals with assigned 4th and 5th grade students. Mentors and students build a
relationship by participation in a wide range of activities, including
educational games, structured dialogue, theme parties, and student -centered
conversation.
Mentoring sessions are
typically held during the lunch hour, with complimentary
lunches provided by MVES. Mentors are asked to complete a
volunteer application and background check as necessary prior to
enrollment in the program.
